The Mothers Of Invention の、1967-1969 も間のいろいろな所でのライブを集めたアルバム。 60'sのマザースの集大成ともいえる作品であります。私は、もうこの作品については「大変 な作品である」としか評しようがありません。 とにかく圧倒的な存在感があります。
Prelude to the Afternoon of a Sexually Aroused Gas Maskでの Roy Estradaのまるで悪夢のような 馬鹿笑い、各人が別々の拍子で演奏を進めるToads of the Short Forest、後にRoy Estradaとあ のLittle Feetを結成するLowell Georgeが奇声を上げている１曲目のDidja Get Any Onya、など、 このアルバムには過激で実験的な曲が多数収められています。
しかし、やはりこのアルバムの目玉は、Eric Dolphy Memorial Barbecueと、Oh No - The Orange County Lumber Truckのメドレーでしょう。これらはいつ聴いても素晴らしい。そして、最後の Waesels Ripped My Fleshの猛烈なノイズで「締め」です。
とにかく、このアルバムは、60'sのZappaを知るには絶好の一枚といえるでしょう。
